Fashion with Patience: 9 Trends to Try for Summer 2019
Last Update: Thursday, 11th July 2019 19:57
Summer is finally here, which means the fashion retailers are switching over from their spring styles and are bursting with all the latest trends.
Here are my top predictions for the biggest trends of summer 2019, which you should incorporate into your wardrobe. Try something new this year!
Tie-Dye
Prada and Stella McCartney had this traditionally 70s print all over their catwalks for next season, so expect to see this psychedelic print popping up all over the high street, including in some more unusual pieces such as footwear and accessories. The key with tie-dye in 2019? The brighter, the better!
Fringe
Designers Tom Ford and Oscar de la Renta reworked this classic western detail into more modern styles, making it great for everyday wear. Expect to see fringe detail on dresses and skirts, jackets and bags, and everywhere else in between this season.
Cycling Shorts
This trend started creeping in after Chanel showcased them last year but expect to see them on the high street in even more materials, colours, and styles for the summer. Think leather-look, floral patterned, and even fishnet.
Animal Print
This trend has been big for a couple of years, particularly zebra and leopard, but expect to see even more with snakeskin, cheetah and even giraffe making more of an appearance. Animal prints in bright and bold colours will be a hit for the summer.
Print Mash-Up
While animal print has been popular for a few seasons now, a more recent development of this trend is the print mash-up, where multiple prints and colours are blended into the one item of clothing. Paco Rabanne really kick-started this trend by mixing floral and geometric prints together but there are plenty of items that clash different animal prints together too.
Neon
Fluorescent shades and electric colours are going to be very popular for summer 2019. Stand out from the crowd by adding a brightly coloured accessory to an outfit if you aren’t brave enough for a day-glo clothing item.
One Shoulder
The Bardot was the style of choice for 2018, but in 2019 one shoulder is the new off-the-shoulder. This asymmetric cut is flattering on most body shapes. Expect to see plenty of tops and dresses with this cut.
Spots
Polka dots are back in a big way! Go for something more unique by choosing over-sized dots, metallic dots, or dots that aren’t perfectly formed.
Denim
Denim is absolutely everywhere this season! From skirts and shirts, to shorts, skirts, a wide selection of jean styles, dungaree jeans and dresses, jumpsuits and shirt dresses, to everything in between! Denim never really goes out of style, but this season it is available in more styles and shades than ever before.
